The calculations are wrong. Allow users to use whatever formats they prefer. If you force other people to use your preferred settings, then they will make keying errors. You will get bad data, which you might not be able to detect. In your calculations, work with binary values not with text strings. If you explain what calculations you are doing, people here in the forum can probably help you to fix them.
